About the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté data management cluster portal

This portal is proposed by the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté data management cluster. It is based on the dat@OSU portal, which at the time was dedicated to promoting research data from the OSU THETA.

The portal is made up of a federation of sub-portals designed to showcase research data from institutions, laboratories and research structures in Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

The portal includes data descriptions ( metadata sheets) for both open-access data (made available via the portal or another platform) and restricted-access data.

Any user can consult the medata sheets and download open-access data.

However, registration on the portal, which enables data to be described and deposited, is reserved for staff affiliated to research structures in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

The portal is part of the dynamics of the 2nd French plan for open science, and more specifically of the “Structuring, sharing and opening up research data”. In Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, its use is recommended in the charters and roadmaps of several establishments (UBE, UMLP...).

Portal objectives

The objectives of the portal are to :
  • Enable research data produced in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté to be discovered, consulted and downloaded (if in open access),
  • Meet the requirements of funding bodies by enabling researchers to describe and to make available their research data,
  • Encourage data documentation and the adoption of FAIR principles (“findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable”),
  • Contribute to the inventory of the scientific heritage of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.

Data description

Data description is reserved for staff of higher education and research establishments in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (registration form). The team of documentalists at the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté data management cluster can accompany and advise users in their work. (make an appointment). They also carry out curation work (standardization of metadata, alignment with repositories recognized by the scientific community, etc.) in order to offer quality metadata. As a result, research data is described in great detail, making it easier to find, access, interoperate and reuse, in line with FAIR principles.

The portal's computer code (opened in 2024) is constantly being improved; if you have any problems or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the team.
