Description :
Since 2010, the monitoring network, set up within the framework of the SNO- (Multidisciplinary Observatory of Slope Instabilities). This monitoring network provides a large amount of hydrogeological data
The hydrogeological monitoring is composed of a high frequency and quasi-continuous monitoring, associated with a punctual low frequency monitoring carried out every three months within the framework of field campaigns (on the Séchilienne site only), provides more than ten years of data on the physical parameters of the waters of the unstable massifs monitored by the SNO.
Disciplines :
environmental sciences (sciences of the universe), geochemistry & geophysics (sciences of the universe), geology (sciences of the universe), geosciences, multidisciplinary (sciences of the universe), mineralogy (sciences of the universe)

General metadata

Data acquisition date : from Sep 2010 ongoing
Data acquisition methods :
  • Observational data :
Low-frequency monitoring is carried out during one-off campaigns and consists of measuring physico-chemical parameters such as temperature, pH and electrical conductivity. The measurements are taken with a WTW pH/Cond 340i probe (Xylem Inc.). The instruments are calibrated before each measurement campaign and the measurements are carried out at a standard temperature of 25°C. The accuracy is 0.1 pH and 0.1 µS.cm-1 for conductivity.

High-frequency monitoring is made possible by a measuring device installed since 2010 at various stations on unstable slopes. The various groundwater access points (springs, fissures, piezometers) are equipped with multi-parameter probes recording the water level (± 0.05%), temperature (±0.1°C) and electrical conductivity (0.001 to 2,000 mS.cm-1, ± 0.5%; 0.10 to 100.00 mS.cm-1, ± 1.5% of the measured value) at a time step varying from ten minutes to half an hour. The probes are calibrated when there is a drift between the manual measurements (made every 3 months) and the automatic measurements.
